West Hill Community Services, a Scarborough community health and social services provider, was undergoing a dramatic expansion of their scope of work. They called upon Public Interest to help them develop a strategic plan and to set up an inclusive process that would give staff, board members, and clients the opportunity to voice their opinions and participate in the discussion.
We began by conducting focus groups and interviews with these three groups and also compiled a neighbourhood profile. We then facilitated two joint planning days. The first day enabled participants to create a shared understanding and to review emerging themes, while the second day focused on the decision making and priority setting required to begin the development of an implementation plan.
